Idaho Gastroenterology Associates (IGA) was proud to partner with the Fatty Liver Alliance for its recent Your Liver, Your Health event in Boise, Idaho. The community-focused event provided free liver health education, noninvasive liver assessments, and an opportunity for Treasure Valley residents to learn more about the importance of early detection and prevention.
The response from the community was remarkable. Some attendees traveled more than 50 miles, while others arrived nearly two hours before the event began. In total, 58 community members participated, with 55 receiving complimentary FibroScan assessments.
Representing IGA were Dr. Elsbeth Jensen-Otsu, hepatologist and Noel Anderson, PA, who worked alongside the Fatty Liver Alliance to help attendees better understand their liver health, discuss potential risk factors, and identify opportunities for follow-up care.
Bringing Liver Health Awareness to Our Community
Liver disease often develops without noticeable symptoms, making education and early detection especially important. Conditions such as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly known as fatty liver disease, affect millions of Americans, many of whom may be unaware they have the condition.
A key component of the event was providing complimentary FibroScan assessments. This quick, noninvasive technology measures liver stiffness and can help identify signs of liver scarring. IGA also offers FibroScan assessments in our offices, providing patients throughout the Treasure Valley with access to this valuable diagnostic tool as part of their liver care.
Beyond the assessments, the event created opportunities for meaningful conversations about liver health, lifestyle modifications, and the importance of ongoing medical care when appropriate.
Expanding Access to Specialized Liver Care
As the need for specialized liver care continues to grow, IGA is committed to expanding hepatology services for patients throughout the Treasure Valley.
Led by Dr. Elsbeth Jensen-Otsu, our growing hepatology team is focused on providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals with liver conditions, from early evaluation and monitoring to the management of more complex liver disease.
Participating in events like Your Liver, Your Health is one way we can help bridge the gap between community education and access to specialized care.
A Shared Commitment to a Healthier Idaho
We extend our appreciation to the Fatty Liver Alliance for bringing this important initiative to Boise and for its continued dedication to liver health awareness.
At IGA, we believe that improving community health starts with education, meaningful partnerships, and ensuring patients have access to the care they need.
