John Dever, MD, was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He served as Director of Gastroenterology at Saltzer Health/Intermountain Health in Idaho until operations ended in March 2024 and joined IGA in 2024. Dr. Dever is board-certified in gastroenterology, with a focus on wellness, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, colon cancer prevention, brain-gut disorders, longevity, and delivering an optimal patient experience.
From 2015 to 2022, he served as clinical faculty at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where he trained medical students, residents, and fellows. Before his departure, the Department of Medicine (DOMCAP) voted unanimously to promote him to Associate Clinical Professor. His research has been published in multiple leading peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Dever achieved the highest adenoma detection rate among his peers (67%), received the highest teacher rating, and was appointed a mentor in the UCSD Bridge Program for Scholars. He also served on the patient safety committee. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, mountain biking, and traveling.
