We’re proud to participate and sponsor the Brian Olson Memorial Classic again this year. It is a meaningful community event dedicated to raising awareness for colorectal cancer and honoring the life of Brian Olson.

Representing IGA on the course this year were Dr. Story, Dr. Lockwood, Dr. Jeager, and nurse Kristine, who joined community members, sponsors, and supporters for a day centered around connection, remembrance, and an important cause.

The tournament was created in memory of Brian Olson, who passed away from colorectal cancer at just 39 years old. In the wake of his passing, Brian’s colleagues and loved ones came together to create an event that not only honors his legacy, but also helps increase awareness around colon cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.

While the tournament is filled with camaraderie, generosity, and a lot of fun, its mission carries deep meaning for many of us at IGA. Colorectal cancer has personally affected the lives of many of our physicians, staff members, patients, and families. Events like this serve as a powerful reminder of why we do what we do every day.

Colorectal cancer remains one of the most preventable forms of cancer when detected early through routine screening. In recent years, rates of colorectal cancer in younger adults have continued to rise, making awareness and timely screening more important than ever.

We are incredibly grateful to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who continues to support the Brian Olson Memorial Classic and its mission. It’s an honor to stand alongside a community that is committed to turning loss into action, awareness, and hope.

Although we’ve never made it on the podium and certainly make better healthcare professionals than we do golfers; we’re already looking forward to next year.
